My journey to publishing this volume began over eight years ago when I wrote about a crotchety widower named Jeremiah who found, in adopting one of his wife's hobbies, a way to deal with his grief. From "MixMaster," the final story in this book, I worked backwards (and, at times, forwards) to unravel Jeremiah's life.
